Fiona and Trent celebrated their nuptials in a lavish reception at the luxurious Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. The 500+ guest soirée took place a month after the couple’s intimate wedding in Australia, where the groom is originally from. The reception was inspired by and entirely modeled after Fiona’s wedding dress–even the cake was designed by the bride herself to match the dress! The result was an absolute dream of modern luxury.
Fiona wore the LPG Valeria, a semi-minimalist strapless dress featuring unique botanical details and a beautiful back that was simply stunning on her! How did you find your Lee Grebenau wedding dress?
I visited Kinsley James Couture Bridal in L.A. because I was actually looking for an Australian-designed dress to wear in Australia, and LPG happened to be having a trunk show there that weekend. My dress was in the window and I saw it when I was walking up to the store, and the first thing I said was “Hi I’m Fiona… I need to try that dress on!” It was so funny because I shopped around in there and tried on lots of dresses and designers and they actually brought me my dress last and the second I put it on it was OVER. It couldn’t have looked any more amazing in general, but it was perfect on me. We didn’t think about it at all, we just ordered it on the spot!
How did Trent propose?
Trent proposed to me on March 9th, 2018, the week after my birthday. He told me we were going on a belated birthday excursion and didn’t tell me where he was taking me. We ended up in Santa Barbara, CA, and the next morning he took me to the Alisal Ranch and told me we were going for a ride through the mountains. (I rode horses competitively through my childhood and teens and he surprised me and packed all my old riding gear) So we take this amazing 3-hour ride and come out onto a lake and we dismount and are looking over this lake and he starts telling me how much he loves me, and before I know it he pulls out this black box and gets on one knee… I never saw it coming!
What’s your favorite memory of the wedding?
My favorite memory is the downtime with my husband. The calm before the storm when we walked in at the reception, and the moments we got to spend together all dressed up while driving my dad’s classic Jaguar around Beverly Hills (we turned a LOT of heads), and eating our wedding cake at 3 AM when it was all over.
What was your wedding theme?
The theme was actually modeled after my wedding dress. I showed it to our planners and said I wanted a wedding that matched the modernity, the sleekness and the simplicity while being absolutely stunning and breathtaking. I wanted something that stood out from every other L.A. wedding. Everyone involved with the wedding always got so inspired when they saw the dress, they immediately started coming up with ideas. We ended up covering all the walls and carpets and balustrades in white and chose elegantly structured florals and sleek chandeliers to match the dress. Also, I sat down and designed the cake with the baker and we designed it to match the dress.
What are some of the things you loved about planning your wedding?
I loved the team I got to work with! Our planners at International Event Co. and our unbelievable florist Mark from Mark’s Garden, and Mattias from Revelry Event Design are just the most talented people in all of L.A. It was so fun to get to collaborate and visit their galleries, pick the perfect pieces and all sit together and sketch and re-sketch and model the vision over and over until the final idea would fall into place and everyone would just go “Yes!” It’s amazing what was possible with this incredible team and how they can make a vision come to life.
But dress shopping and fittings with friends and family were the most fun. I’m so sad it’s over! There’s nothing quite like trying dresses and finding the one that perfectly matches your ideal vision of yourself and your personality. It’s just the most personal thing, and I think the dress you choose says so much about a bride.
Congratulations, Fiona and Trent!
